Summer Plans: During the summer months, I am on my off-season schedule:

  • For paid subscribers, I’ll combine weekly updates into a single report. These updates are less detailed compared to my winter report.

  • Free subscribers will continue to receive occasional essays and posts during the summer months, but I won’t be posting as often.

  • In the fall, I will return to sending out a full-length, free national version of Outbreak Outlook. Paid subscribers will receive region-specific editions with more local data.

ILI

Flu remains at low tide. It is at minimal levels nationwide, accounting for just 1.4% of all outpatient visits. All states are reporting minimal levels of activity.

Hospitalizations are at 0.1 hospitalizations per 100,000.

COVID-19

The summer wave continues. There are some suggestions that the wave may be cresting in some locations (particularly in California), but it is still too early for sure.

SARS-CoV-2 wastewater concentration by state. Adapted from CDC.

At the national level, wastewater remained roughly steady this past week. Activity is substantially higher in the West and South than elsewhere in the country.
