Respiratory Diseases

Influenza-like illness

Influenza remains very low nationally, with every state reporting minimal ILI activity. Wastewater is very low, and less than 1.2% of outpatient visits were for influenza-like illness. Activity continues to be roughly stable, neither increasing nor decreasing.

Looking across the age groups, the youngest cohort (aged 0-4 years) had a 3.40% outpatient ILI rate last week, followed by the 5-24 year-olds at 1.35%. All other age groups remain at <1%.

COVID-19

Activity is continuing to increase across the country. Wastewater concentration rose sharply in all four regions of the country (shown below). Emergency department visits are rising as well.

I am not seeing any signs of peaking yet, even in the early-hit states, so I expect activity to continue to rise in the weeks ahead.
