This series tracks measles alerts that might not make major headlines. After discovering a measles exposure in my area that I almost missed, I created these updates to help others stay informed. Paid subscribers receive brief, skimmable reports twice weekly (Tuesdays and Fridays) on new cases nationwide. New: I plan to continue these reports through at least May.
National totals
According to CDC, a total of 935 confirmed measles cases have been reported by 30 jurisdictions. This will almost certainly be the biggest year since measles was eliminated. The previous high was 1,274 in 2019. So far this year, 121 cases (13%) have been hospitalized.
There have been 12 outbreaks (3 or more related cases) reported in 2025, and 93% of confirmed cases (869 of 935) are outbreak-associated. Last year, there were 16 outbreaks.
Today’s report includes information as of 1:30 ET on Friday.
