I’m a retired Fire Captain that worked when AIDS started. I remember all the same kind of people back then. It was hard for me because we were then required to wear gloves and that stopped the close touch that all the patients needed! Thank you!
I agree but... The biosecurity measures are relatively easy. They do not challenge powerful interests. But they do distract us from the sources of zoonotic transfer. Addressing the latter issues comes up against the interests of small and large corporate enterprises. Unless we take those on, sooner or later we will have disaster, regardless of what led to covid. I am not opposed to doing what's easily doable, but we can't let it delude us into thinking we have addressed the larger challenge of pandemic prevention.

And note that in your list of the sources of zoonotic transfer, you omitted climate change and loss of biodiversity.
