Thanks for doing your best to keep us informed. It must be frustrating to know and understand the ramifications of messing around with data that is going on right now.

Frustrating?

For me much more Chaotic energy than just frustration. Yet, the population reads about the problems being created, complains but cannot seem to get organized to resist.

Thanks for your excellent content. To what do you ascribe the unusually high ILI numbers this year?

Nothing specific, as far as I know. Vaccine uptake is poor this year, but I don't see how that would result in two peaks.

It could be described as a chaotic orbit around a strange attractor when looked at from a different way.

Caitlin et al, thanks for the great work and the extra sleuthing required. Can you provide a primer on "test positivity" as a measure. As I try to understand how prevalent some pathogen is, I never really grasped securely that measure. Of people getting testing to identify the cause of some symptom, its the the rate at which a specific pathogen is identified as the cause.? That seems to just be a relative number compared to other causes, not an incidence of total cases of that pathogen. Help me understand if you would. Thanks again some symptom

Thank you for your extra hard work keeping track of influenza activity and keeping us all informed. It is very much appreciated!

Given what we know about COVID-19's damage to the immune system, do you think it's possible this high rate of ILI may have something to do with the numerous COVID infections our general population has sustained over the last 5 years?
