Thanks for the link to the story about extra mental health services for children ending with expiring federal covid funding. The long-term wholesale abandonment of public education by Texas state government is appalling. The governor has called FOUR special legislative sessions so far in attempts to get his deeply unpopular school voucher plans passed. Just revolting.
Would it be possible to show us how norovirus this season compares with prior years? Is this a particularly bad season, or is it more typical? Thanks! Also, whjat is the normal seasonality of norovirus, if there is a pattern.
with respect to wastewater vs hospitalizations, do you really think the hospitalization Covid data is reasonably accurate? I doubt it - I know folks that go in and haven't really been tested for Covid - and there is almost no testing for someone going in complaining of something else who has Covid as well... And some folks who would have gone to the hospital don't even bother anymore with almost no masking there, etc.... And different parts of the country vary in testing even coming into the hospital (due to politics - we saw this for the last few years) - and reporting from hospitals varies from state to state.
Generally, the extremely poor quality of the data in the US with respect to Covid is horrible. Wastewater may be the only consistently measured piece of data - and yes, it would be great to have good data on cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, but unlikely to get that.
in the fall of 2022 three grizzlies in Montana were euthanized and found to have been infected with H5N1. It was believed that they picked it up from infected chickens.

For many, the symptoms are so mild that people are not bothering to test for Covid.

If you have degrees or professional designations I urge you to show those after your name
