I learned last year that I could get free vaccines at CVS pharmacies, and I've been getting them all! Who knows if this will last with RFK "going wild on health"!

Have you tried Costco? You may be able to get them by the dozen and you can be vaccinated up to your ears. Go wild on quackccines.

Just as everything Donny Convict does is motivated by seeing the world through the lenses of real estate and grievance

RFKjr is motivated by grifting for CHD, looking for big payouts on frivolous lawsuits, and grievance.

It's heartening to see hard evidence that Americans are predominantly going to ignore Bobby Brainworms and his ignorant ideas about vaccines and the causes of disease.

I feel sympathy for physicians that are going to have to deal with the coming uptick in patients refusing evidence-based medical care. My advice to them is to kick these people out of their practices, just like a pilot would kick a disruptive drunk off a flight.

Dismissing an anti-vax patient (after reasonable attempts to educate and persuade have failed) absolutely SHOULD be done. That person is potentially endangering every other patient in the waiting room! Remember, not everyone CAN be safely immunized, and the physician's duty of care extends to them far more than it does to someone who is willfully endangering not only themselves but others as well.

I survived treatment and recovery from a stage 4 cancer. My greatest fear was that I might go through all that painful bullshit only to be killed by an infection of some sort.

The experience really made me appreciate the worldview of people who go through their entire lives doing everything they can to avoid being killed by a disease, and carry on anyway.

All they ask is a little courtesy from their neighbors.

It’s pathetic that so many of those neighbors’ attitudes are essentially “fuck off and die.”

Not sure what you're trying to imply, but just as it's true that "gods help those who help themselves"

no health care professional should have to treat someone who prefers the likes Joe Rogan and RFKjr to source "medical" information - except perhaps in an emergency setting.

Thank you. Hopefully, that trend will continue - or even improve, as measles and other vaccine preventable diseases spread.

I am amused that I read your book without ever realizing who you might actually be. I enjoyed this post in the NY Times, and it reminds me of a study published on January 20th in Nature Human Behavior that explored a similar false impression across 68 world countries - notably the US - that "conservatives and right-leaning individuals have low levels of trust in scientists, hold stronger anti-science attitudes and express low confidence that scientists act in the best interest of the public, provide benefits to society, and apply reliable methods." Quite surprisingly - apparently to many but you! - they found the opposite to be true, and believe "scientists are among the most trusted actors in society." It's open-source: Cologna, Viktoria, et al. Trust in scientists and their role in society across 68 countries. Nature Human Behavior. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-024-02090-5. I can see that you believe that there should be a correlation between trusting scientists and trusting large pharmaceutical companies. I would argue against that believe. They are unrelated.

What came out in the RFK Jr nomination hearings is that he is not simply a mad man but he is setting himself up to profit hugely if the current guideline for vaccines is expunged. For the first time I saw him not only as a fool, but a clever fool who is looking to get rich. After which Caroline Kennedy came out against him and his family followed suit. I was surprised that Caroline Kennedy's letter to the New Yorker (I believe it was the New Yorker) was not widely published. I remember listing to the hearings, and it was announced Caroline Kennedy had made a statement but then the coverage the hearings dropped off and a clip from Fox News unrelated supplanted it. Coincidence, I guess, but it felt like a deliberate act on the part of someone, not certain of course. Since then I've been expecting to see Caroline Kennedy's statement. Likely exposing how uninformed I am here; but I do keep an eye on the news. Anyone hear read her statement?

I have been reading The Chaos Machine and as it happens I just read the same thing in there, that of course anti-vaxxers are a minority but because of social media largely, they've been able to perpetrate pluralistic ignorance on us. Frankly, I think pluralistic ignorance is a lot of the problem with a lot of the situations we find ourselves in right now.

What happened in Texas? I read on Substack a post reporting there is a breakout of measles to the extent it is an outlier event not seen in a very long time. But I have not seen anything else on it. I will do some research but ask for a comment here as well, if possible. Thank you.

NBC News reported that the outbreak that started in Gaines County TX and has since spread to Lea County, NM, has grown to 48 cases. This is an area known for low vaccination rates. No cases have been confirmed in vaccinated people -- only unvaccinated and those with unknown vaccine status. As for claims that it occurred because of "unvetted immigrants coming across the wide-open border," that is not true. The outbreak was traced to two Harris County residents who had traveled abroad.

Thank you. Horrid lies. The media conglomerates should all burn in hell for the damage they have caused to humanity. Let's boycott them unless proven to be unbiased. I subscribe to Kyiv Independent where I find the quality of news to be unbiased and informative. The journalists there are today bracing for what will come and preparing but not cowering and still showing up reporting truth to power. www.kyivindependent.com

Thank you for the link -- I will subscribe. I'm sickened that I now have to look outside the US for reliable news sources. So tired of fear-mongering propaganda. Here is a link to Heather Cox Richardson's substack (if you aren't aware of it already.) Actually, on a positive note because of this crisis we are all students in a classroom called reality where we are learning and honing our skills (most of us have neglected) to attend to our duties as citizens.

Our youth are living events similar to what they studied in school and together (for they are the most united generation thanks to technology that has ever been seen) are learning and acting.

Also, seeking news sources outside the mainstream is long overdue. It has been so obvious the "news" has been framed and consumed here in the USA as "entertainment."

Just an observation of what may be a positive from all that is happening and a confession that I as much as anyone was blind but now, I can see. I think Americans are maturing -- a form of self-actualization -- and it is painful, but we are resilient and will adapt together as a society. We will prevail.

I also see a positive outcome from the obscene bullying and neglect of all honorable tenets being displayed by Trump. I believe he has declared war not only on the people of the United States but upon democracies across the globe.

Whenever I can thru contact online or in person reach out and forge common ground with a Canadian or a Ukrainian or someone from Denmark or any European nation, where democracy is being threatened by our POTUS, I do so.

In the end and over time out of necessity I see a shift from humanity identifying individually as representing regions to a linking of regions and the formation of a larger universal tribe. A body of humanity that stands up for democracy and freedom across the globe. A NATO of humanity versus a NATO of nations.

Today, we have had the hard lesson that nations are fickle, and we need to link together individual to individual and use the power that union will afford us to rule nations -- not be ruled by them. To be the dog waving the tail, not the tail being waved by the dog.
