We are asking ourselves these same questions at the world's premier public health organization. Public Health Responses require the participation, collaboration, and cooperation of STLT, NGOs, and Federal agencies. And the changing landscape of funding that supports public health responses, coupled with the destruction of various federal agencies; and America could easily find itself unable to adequately provide a response to either an infectious disease outbreak or a natural disaster. The actions taken over the last 78 days have had an adverse impact on America's capabilities and capacity to conduct public health responses.

In the summer of 2022 we had cause to visit Colorado and made a cross border road trip. Covid was still in play, though as we crossed state after state we noted that the general populace was not overly concerned about residual risk.

With a lapse of personal responsibility, I became infected. I was amazed at the local support in Colorado, was triaged and treated quickly. An excellent result.

Now, watching the news from the USA, one has to wonder about the increased risk of disease when the leadership is blasé about managing outbreaks and are actively eliminating functions and staffing accordingly.

Yet another reason to carefully consider the need travel to the USA.
