A thought experiment: In my experience, some states didn't exactly publish accurate/truthful data during COVID. What are the chances they'll not be forthcoming about flu now because they don't want some word to get out about their levels of infection? Or is my paranoia showing?
Hope you’re right. I had poor experiences with several state reporting regimes with COVID. I’m now concerned about political efforts to shape other aspects of PH reporting. I agree the response to flu has been better in the past; I hope it continues to be well reported, as that will make our jobs easier.

Influenza was probably the best-surveilled infectious disease until covid took the lead. I don't have any concerns about data quality for flu.
